Greetings and welcome to the Healy House,

The home of my husband, Brian Healy, and myself, Jeanette Healy.  We currently live in the Hudson Valley area, roughly an hour and a half from New York City, on the border between Orange and Sullivan Counties.  My husband and I have many hobbies and interests that we have pursued over the years.  You can find my husband’s interests over at his website, Eclipsos Armoury.

I have been a part of the dog show world since I was a little child, when my parents raised German Shepherds under the kennel name Strider Shepherds.  My parents were members of Northern New Jersey German Shepherd Dog Club.  My mother’s main interest with the club was Obedience.  My father was club photographer for some of the shows run by Northern New Jersey.

When I was 10, my parents moved us up to Lake Huntington, NY on the New York/Pennsylvania border.  That is when I got my first Shetland Sheepdog, Calcurts Black Magic, from Kit Curtis at Calcurt Shelties.  My parents and I had fun with our shelties, as they made wonderful companions working with us on our farm, helping to herd our sheep, ducks, and cows.  Eventually due to health issues, my parents stopped working with dogs, and moved off the farm into Middletown, NY.

After I got married, my husband and I purchased our first home, thus giving us space for our first dog, Bihari’s Yana.  She was a wonderful German Shepherd, that we purchased from Joe Bihari, on April 1st 2001.   I also rejoined Northern New Jersey German Shepherd Dog Club.  I spent my years at Northern New Jersey German Shepherd Dog Club, working at the cook tent at the various specialty shows they sponsored.  I also was chairman for a few of the Match Shows.  I also served on the Board of Governors of the Club, as a regular Board Member and as Recording Secretary.  I finally left the club in 2006 due to my schedule at my job that I had at the time.  Sadly, we lost Yana, our little girl shepherd last year over Thanksgiving.

Recently, my husband and I purchased a male bi-black Shetland sheepdog puppy, named GinaGardens Oh Mi Little Admiral.  His call name is Miles.  We purchased him from Lena Melendez at GinaGardens Kennel over in Centerreach Long Island, at the end of January.  He has been our joy from the moment he walked in the door.

Miles and I are currently learning a new skill, called show handling, as I intend to show him in the Confirmation Ring.  We are also learning the basics of Obedience Work.  Eventually I intend to introduce Miles to Herding Trials and Agility Trials.

Please keep checking the website as Brian, Miles and I continue our adventures in the Doggie World.

Thanks,

Jeanette Healy
